Experience

Cenosco Croatia Ltd.

PKF Forenzika Prima Ltd.

I wrote โ‰ˆ 186 reports, totaling โ‰ˆ 6.7k pages, under the supervision of my manager. Solo work (in 99% of cases). Author of following packages: foRenzika, pyval, read_money. Total market value of projects โ‰ˆ 373k โ‚ฌ (VAT included). Most of the projects included creating detailed offers and contracts, which were sometimes followed with additional calls or meetings with the Client. My portfolio includes:

  • State Attorney lawsuits: total of 10 cases, totaling over 3.6k pages. Star projects: โญ

    • VAT fraud schemes in the import of new and used cars (250+ cars), which included analysis of fraudulent (and international) invoice and cash flow trails (50+ bank statements). Network graphs were used for visualization of each invoice/cash trail. Highlights:
    • Money laundering cases, where I developed read_money Python package for efficient data cleaning of bank statements from various domestic & international banks (with all their various formats and currencies). Network graphs were used for visualization of each cash trail. Highlights:

Other projects dealt with fraudulent transactions by the employees (i.e. inventory theft, fraudulent invoices).

  • Forensics ๐Ÿ”: total of 5 cases. Successfully discovered fraud in Croatian PLC, along with proving the incompetence of the fired manager by analyzing managerโ€™s employment contract, agenda from the meetings with the Supervisory Board and contracts that have proven to be infeasible for the Client. To get access to the soft information, I conducted interviews with the employees of the company. Report resulted in a positive legal outcome for the Client.

  • Damage claims ๐Ÿ‘จโ€โš–๏ธ in the context of Swiss franc mortgage lawsuits: total of 150 projects. Invented unique methodology with both R and Python that precisely calculated damage claims. On average, I spent 4 hours for the complete Report, while the industry norm was 2-4 weeks. Most of the reports were successfully defended by writing precise and concise answers to the lawyers in user-friendly language.

  • Valuation ๐Ÿง of closed equity companies: total of 16 projects. Successfully discredited valuation report from the Big 4 company (overvaluation by close to 100%), which led to the discontinuation of the merger process. Present results prove that it was the right decision. Successfully implemented Monte Carlo simulations in the income approach (DCF), which led to the credible interval of the companyโ€™s fair market value that helped the Client to make informed decision(s) regarding the final negotiation price. ๐Ÿค

  • Valuation ๐Ÿง of intangible assets: 1 project. Using Monte Carlo simulations, I calculated fair market value for 20+ mobile video games ๐Ÿ“ฑ๐ŸŽฎ that were in highly competitive market. Heavy usage of probability theory. Client accepted the valuation as reasonable and fair. ๐Ÿค

  • Economic Damages ๐Ÿ’ธ๐Ÿฉน: 1 project. Project included high-profile client, where I worked with a team member. Under tight deadline we analyzed past deals and contracts which have had proven to be damaging for the Client. Total economic damage amounted to 22.1 mil. โ‚ฌ (some of the damage was calculated using DCF).

  • Other projects: statistical review ๐Ÿง of the competitorโ€™s Expert Witness Report (involved usage of bootstrap method). Audit of debt to equity swap (3 cases). Calculation of default interest in the context of late alimony payments, as well as writing 1 tax opinion/advice in the domain of Income Act (with the guidance of my manager). I also helped tax branch of the company in finding sources for solving various tax problems in the area of VAT and property tax, along with translation (from Croatian to English) of some tax opinions/advices. โš–๏ธ๐Ÿ’ต

  • Administration: I played major role in creation of the Action plan for three PKF firms (10 crucial areas). Action Plan was designed to improve the quality control process (among many others) of the involved business units, all in accordance with the standards of the PKF group. I was also supporting accounting and tax branch of the company with various Python and R scripts that made some of the crucial jobs easier.

Each project was properly archived physically and digitally, using logical folder structures and file names.
